Safety and Security

scheduled maintenance at the prescribed time...

Experience private jet travel in aircraft maintained, detailed and flown by professional, highly trained L.J. Aviation personnel.  It is a fact that today’s private jet aircraft with their advanced technologies are so reliable that aircraft malfunctions are extremely rare.  Safety today has now become a matter of attention to detail – a point of difference where L.J. Aviation excels.  Safety is about training, discipline, policies and a rigorous adherence to following correct procedures.  For aircrews this means following the same procedures each and every time on every flight.  L.J. Aviation’s typical pilot has a four-year degree and extensive experience as a professional pilot.  Our hiring minimums are 1500 hours for entry level First Officers, 2500 hours for Captains in a turbo-prop and 3000 hours for Captains in a jet (currently L.J. Aviation’s average Captain has 8164 flight hours and First Officer has 4729 flight hours).  In accordance with industry best practices, aircrews attend Flight Safety recurrent simulator training every six months.  In addition, L.J. Aviation pilots are required to complete quarterly computer based training and are required to participate in Performance Vector Webinar Series training that focuses on Human Factors and Physiological concerns specific to the aviation environment. Regardless of any unplanned event that may arise L.J. Aviation has a fully integrated Emergency Services Team that will provide all services and resources required to respond effectively and compassionately to the situation.

For L.J. Aviation’s maintenance personnel, it’s about doing scheduled maintenance at the prescribed time, routine maintenance as required and performing quality control checks that document each maintenance activity in meticulous detail.

To ensure that the policies and procedures employed by L.J. Aviation are always those which have been proven to be “best practices”, L.J. Aviation employs third party audits on an annual basis.  These third party audits provide a painstakingly thorough review of L.J. Aviation’s operations ensuring that no complacency is allowed to develop.  L.J. Aviation utilizes two separate auditing entities to make sure that no stone is left unturned.

IS-BAO – The International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations is a recommended code of best practices designed to help flight departments worldwide achieve the highest levels of safety and professionalism.  Both the FAA and CAA in Canada recognize IS-BAO as meeting the ICAO standard.  The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) also recognizes IS-BAO as an industry standard for business aircraft operations.

ACSF-IAS – The Air Charter Safety Foundation Industry Audit Standard is a revolutionary program built from the ground up by ACSF to set the standard for the independent evaluation of an air charter operator’s and/or shared ownership company’s safety and regulatory compliance. The ACSF-IAS provides charter customers with the assurance that audited and registered operators are compliant with the highest standards of safety and compliance. Participating independent auditors are accredited by the ACSF.

WYVERN WINGMAN – Wingman Certified Operators are distinguished by higher safety commitment and achievement. Wingman Operators maintain the proactive risk management practices in the industry. The scope of Wingman Certification evaluation includes the operational activities referenced in the most recent ICAO 9859 Safety Management Manual document. This includes a review of operational history, safety records, SMS, IEP, administrative composition, technical documentation, pilot and aircraft records, training requirements, and maintenance operations including technician training and experience. A Part 135 charter operator who passes the rigorous two day onsite audit is granted Wingman Certification for a period of 24 months. During this time the operator is continuously monitored on Wyvern’s data platform. Customers may immediately generate Wingman Standard PASS reports to ensure flights meet the audit standard and the time of departure.
